Stan Kroenke is now just 62 shares short of having to make a mandatory takeover bid for Arsenal.
The Times reports that the American billionaire has bought 10 more shares, edging him ever closer to the 30 per cent threshold at which he would be obliged to make an offer for the remaining shares.
Kroenke, who has been gradually increasing his stake in Arsenal this year,
was asked at last month’s Arsenal AGM what his intentions were for the club but declined to comment.
The club’s other major shareholders are Alisher Usmanov, who holds a 25 per cent stake, Danny Fiszman, and Lady Bracewell-Smith, with the rest held by small shareholders.
