Monterrey has set out plans to bid for the 2018 Youth Olympic Games.
The city’s bid for the 2014 event was rejected by the Mexican Olympic Committee, which instead chose Guadalajara as the country’s candidate.
But Guadalajara has since pulled out of the 2014 process and Monterrey officials believe this has once again opened the door for a bid.
Jose Antonio Hernandez Griego, who is heading the 2018 group, said: "We have started again and set out on a new path in search of a long-cherished dream. From this moment on, we will work to obtain the Youth Olympics in 2018."
