Togo is taking legal action against the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for failing to protect its team from an attack on its bus ahead of last month’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The country’s national side pulled out of the tournament after two squad members were shot and killed in an ambush in Angola.
But CAF president Issa Hayatou banned Togo from the 2012 and 2014 editions of the Africa Cup of Nations for "governmental interference".
The Togolese government and relatives of the two victims have now joined forces in a legal suit against CAF and the FLEC-PM (Forces for the Liberation of the State of Cabinda-Military Position) rebel group which claimed responsibility for the attack.
