Sandro Rosell has confirmed he will stand for the Barcelona presidency in this summer’s elections.
The former Nike executive, who was also previously a vice-president at the Catalan giants, revealed on his Twitter account this week: "My job now is to prepare the pre-candidacy for president of FC Barcelona."
Rosell played a key role in getting Joan Laporta elected president in 2003 but the pair subsequently fell out over the direction of the club and Rosell resigned his vice-presidency in 2005.
He has since been an outspoken critic of the Laporta regime, often hinting that we would stand for election.
Rosell was credited with negotiating the deal between Nike and the Brazilian national team during his time with the American sportswear company.
