The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) has appointed Patrick Sandusky as chief communications officer (CCO).
Sandusky has been acting CCO since October last year but has now been confirmed as the organisation’s third head of communications since 1979 and fourth since its inception.
The former vice-president of the Chicago 2016 Olympic bid will report directly to USOC chief executive Scott Blackmun.
Prior to Chicago 2016, Sandusky spent 10 years at public relations firm Hill & Knowlton, where he was vice-president of the company’s sports marketing division.
He said: “I am excited to be able to work closely with Scott Blackmun over the coming years in this incredibly important role for the Olympic movement in America.”
