AC Milan has signed a 60m Euro shirt sponsorship deal with airline Emirates.
The Corriere Dello Sport reports that the company will pay 15m Euros per year to have its ‘Fly Emirates’ slogan emblazoned on Milan’s shirts until 2014.
The deal has also led to speculation that the airline’s head Sheik Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum is planning a takeover of the club.
Reports in the Italian press last summer claimed Al Maktoum was ready to buy 40 per cent of Milan’s shares from Silvio Berlusconi's holding company Fininvest.
News of the sponsorship deal has once again fuelled rumours that Al Maktoum is preparing to buy a stake, although that has been denied by Milan.
Emirates will replace bwin as Milan’s shirt sponsors.
