CASE STUDIES
Marketing Events
SAP MySensAtionalParty
Brief:
To implement the current communication campaign Focusing on People in three-dimensional form for employees, partners and customers.
Realisation:
A factory building was transformed into manufacturing facilities where human senses are dealt out.
Only after being handed senses on the assembly line did people become human. At the same time, the participants (customers, dealers and employees) were offered a whole host of different opportunities to try out their own senses and experience them in greater depth.
At the Feel-Bar the task was to feel and identify items made from various materials. At the Hear-Bar there were concerts by various bands and show acts. The Smell-Bar offered intense olfactory experiences ranging from Havana cigars to Caribbean fruits and not just for smelling. At the See-Bar the guests were able to experience what it means NOT to be able to see (in cooperation with Blinde Kuh, the eat-in-the-dark restaurant).
The result: 1300 satisfied guests with heightened senses, an immense flow of communication and exchange during the event and long afterwards, intense customer bonding. Xaver Award Gold 01.
Henniez Roadshow
Brief:
The introduction of the new packaging and communication design of Henniez Mineral Water for partners from the catering trade. The focal element was the shining star.
Realisation:
Discovering and searching for new stars was the underlying dramaturgical theme for the roadshow. The scenery looked something like a cross between a planetarium and a science lab. Futuristic sound was interrupted by scientific offstage announcements, until the presenters on stage officially opened the Search for the New Star. At various stops during the journey the guests discovered a number of different rising stars, such as the recent winner of MusicStar Switzerland, Carmen Fenk, and the young Gault-Millaut rising star of the year, Stefan Schller, all leading up to the unveiling of the new bottle in the form of a gigantic ice sculpture, to the accompaniment of wild young drummers.
At six different venues some 2000 guests experienced the unveiling firsthand. Our customers were utterly thrilled and are now motivated and proud to take the Henniez brand with its new image to the consumers.
Corporate Events
Together 500+
UBS COO-City
Brief:
Implementation of a leadership programme and merger of three formerly autonomous divisions. Two-day executive event with interactive event and management conference.
Realisation:
Better together. That was and remained for the approximately 550 executives more than just a conference motto.
On the first day they themselves translated it into reality by building their city out of roughly 43,000 cardboard building blocks on an area covering 2000 square metres, where that evening they held a unique city-wide street party packed with all kinds of surprises.
It was a successful emotional start to the ensuing management conference. The vast organisational and logistical effort required was entirely justified in the light of the long-lasting impact that the project achieved. Xaver-Award Gold 06.
PwC eXperience
Brief:
To make tangible and emotionally anchor the Connected Thinking approach for the staff of PricewaterhouseCoopers Switzerland (13 sites, approx. 2300 people in total).
Realisation:
For a whole day all offices were closed and the employees gathered at the Forum Fribourg. There the approximately 1500 employees were challenged to construct an enormous chain-reaction installation out of 90 functional parts.
Divided into 90 teams, they went to work: earning money for building materials through sports activities, defining interfaces to adjacent teams, sawing the necessary materials to the right sizes and constructing their piece of machinery.
After a 4-hour construction period, in an atmosphere of nail-biting suspense, the CEO set off the chain reaction. One after the other, the elements triggered the impulses as planned. The final part of the chain opened the stage curtain, which was the signal for the band to start playing and the catering to serve drinks and finger foods. The play money that was earned was donated in real currency to a charitable cause. Xaver Award Silver 04, EVA Award Bronze05.
Employee events
Henniez 100 Years
Brief:
Event of several days duration for staff, dealers/partners and customers as well as guests from business and politics to mark the centenary of the Henniez brand (2000 guests over four days). Goal: effective integration of corporate values.
Realisation:
A theatrical presentation in four acts narrated the cycle of life, weaving the power of the spring and of water into the story along with the history of Henniez.
Accompanied by the guardian of the spring, staff, customers, dealers and invited guests experienced the novel transformation of a production hall and warehouse and were visibly moved by the production involving a water harp, Bjart Ballet, contemporary dance and the symbolic handover of the spring to the next generation: a nearly 100-strong childrens choir singing the specially composed Henniez song. The 30m widescreen WatchOut projection, cleverly incorporated in the room design, supported the action on the stage with an impressive language of images and really drew the guests into the action.
The event let employees look to the future with a renewed pride in their company and with fresh motivation and confidence. Customers and dealers were confirmed in their relationship to the Henniez brand, and customer loyalty was successfully emotionalised.
PwC One Roof
Brief:
To accompany the relocation of approximately 1200 staff from 14 sites scattered across Zurich into a newly built office building in Zurich-Oerlikon, followed by the grand opening.
Realisation:
The new building gradually awakened to life. For months in advance, it published articles in the staff magazine written in the first person, giving building progress reports, recounting small personal discoveries, describing the new environment and inviting people to the official opening.
Over the first two weeks at the new location, the building surprised its new inhabitants daily with a small useful, fun or informative item and a greeting in their mailbox.
Shortly after the relocation, two open days were held at which employees and their families could experience the building awakening to life: the building was lent a voice (speaker offstage) and accompanied the visitors. Whereas they were greeted in the morning by sleepy yawns and gentle classical music, during the day the building developed an ever more lively character, expressed through a varied and interactive programme focusing on discovering and taking possession of the new home.
Incentives
Studer Incentive Russia
Brief:
To inject new life into an already long-running incentive campaign for sales managers around the world, with conception, organisation and execution of the incentive trip for the half-year winners.
Realisation:
For the ongoing communication with the sales managers a mascot was developed. Derived from the newest machine, a figure was born with whom the sales staff were able to identify right from the start. Along with brief monthly stories to match the season of the year, the mascot conveyed the new status reports and also accompanied the participants on the trip on all printed materials.
The content of the incentive trip to Russia was derived and compiled based on the strong corporate values of Tradition and the Modern, under the overall theme of Precision, the most important quality of the products.
In St. Petersburg the participants experienced impressive examples of devotion to tradition, perfect craftsmanship, masterly architecture and the unbelievable precision of the Kirov Ballet at the Mariinsky Theatre.
Before the journey continued to dynamic and modern Moscow, a meal in the crown room of the Catherine Palace marked the journeys departure from tradition to the modern. Besides the Kremlin and the Metro, in Moscow the travel group also experienced a contemporary Russian show with abundant colours, a mix of folklore and artistry, song and clownery.
Studer Incentive Monaco
Brief:
Incentive campaign for sales managers with the accompanying communication, as well as the conception, organisation and execution of the incentive trip for the half-year winners.
Realisation:
The mascot that had been introduced the previous year continued to accompany the communication throughout the year, and in the first months of the year gave veiled hints about the destination of the trip in September, to feed early speculations.
The Principality of Monaco welcomed the participants on a trip that was designed to unite three elements: tradition, quality, and expertise and innovation. The combination of these values makes Fritz Studer AG the world market leader.
The travel group experienced typical Provencal life in a game of boules, immersed themselves in the world of perfumeries with their high-quality raw materials and renowned noses, enjoyed a gala evening at the villa of Baroness Rothschild, reconnoitred the coast in a fleet of vintage cabriolets and were introduced to the subtle and refined world of wine production and wine-tasting by a baroness who has opened her own wine-growing estate.
But there was more: suspicious-looking figures caught the attention of the guests in all kinds of different settings. Characters infiltrated the group, finally culminating in a big showdown at the gala night involving the solving of an exciting detective mystery story that had been played out all around and actually right among the guests.
Trade fairs/Exhibitions
SAP Orbit
Brief:
We unite everything under one roof, by speaking of a single architecture. It was our brief to express this SAP core statement in the design of the exhibition stand.
Realisation:
Architecture is a key issue both for SAP software and for the design of trade fair stands, and as such became the main theme of the booth: a modern, innovative approach was taken to the intentionally urban theme, which simulated city life.
In the individual city districts a diverse range of products and services were displayed. Partner companies were assigned their own quarter. At the central locations there was room for a bar, a lounge and plenum presentations. The excitingly showcased presentation attracted a high level of attention and helped clinch numerous deals directly at the stand.
SAP TechEd
Brief:
The European SAP touring exhibition, TechEd, was being held in Basel concurrent with the NetWeaver Congress. SAP Switzerland wanted to position itself as the host country with an innovative, inspiring and dynamic presentation, with an area covering nearly 1000m2 and an evening event at their disposal.
Realisation:
Based on the characteristic features of NetWeaver (harmonisation, integration, openness, flexibility), a concept was developed around a sailing theme: having your nose in the wind to stay out in front, finding the right balance, responding to currents, withstanding the storms.
Lengths of fabric suspended from the ceiling, symbolising sails, were kept in motion by blowers. The layering of the material coupled with a clever lighting concept generated spatial depth. Niches cut into long, recumbent objects shaped like the hulls of ships offered oases for discussion and conversation.
During the evening event the whole stand served as a stage for the show presentation of a sailing tour including a gale and thunderstorm supported by drummers, a light show to match and a violent wind.
We had a fantastic stand with a very warm atmosphere the TechEd Oasis! Xaver Award03 Bronze.
Infotainment
SAP E-Business Forum
Brief:
Implementation of the European communication concept E-Business Forum in Switzerland combined with the launch of the new corporate colour. In the forum approximately 1000 sales partners and direct customers of SAP Switzerland were given information about current products and services and future developments.
Realisation:
The customary speech-break-speech sequence of expert lectures was broken up: scenic portrayals of the various situations being lectured about brought them to life and made them easier to grasp. The in-depth involvement of the speakers and experts in both development and portrayal of the scenes gave them great authenticity. The new corporate colour came alive.
Additional video sequences with practical software examples and testimonials by clients completed the successful mix of stage and multimedia formats.
The stage scenery formed a frame for the sequence of events: it changed throughout the day to reflect the agenda. Incorporated into this, the projections of the live cam and other multimedia sequences painted a harmonious overall picture.
The E-Business Forum was a huge success. Now people are hungry and interested. (Board Member Walldorf)
PwC TLS Partner & Manager Conference
Brief:
The design of the annual Partner & Manager Conference with an Innovation motto. The aim was for the conference theme to be applied and experienced not just in theory but in practice too. Innovative approaches should be experienced and workable ideas generated for five main topics which were laid down in advance.
Realisation:
Innovation begins with creativity. And to foster this, on each of the two conference days nine workshops were held in parallel, picking up on the main topics of the conference with a wide range of creativity techniques. Each of the (randomly selected) teams rotated through three different workshops through the course of the day.
The design of the venue with two to four workshops per hall was very conducive to an open, energy-charged atmosphere, which supported the participants letting-go and helped break down inhibitions. A wide variety of ideas about previously defined questions relating to customer focus were generated. At the end of the day these were presented by the teams in the plenary forum, and were subsequently worked on in greater depth by workgroups within PwC with a view to implementation.
In the breaks in the central lounge, snacks and lunch were provided at the long central table, allowing plenty of time for networking and socialising; games equipment was also available for the participants to really let off steam. On the evening of the first day, dinner with appropriate entertainment offered more opportunities to refresh the contact with colleagues from 15 different sites across Switzerland.

Henniez 100 Years
Brief:
Event lasting several days for staff, dealers/partners and customers as well as guests from business and politics to mark the centenary of the Henniez brand (2000 guests over four days). Goal: to effectively integrate corporate values.
Realisation:
For the Henniez centenary a made-to-measure show production was developed, incorporating a custom-built stage and a 30-metre widescreen WatchOut projection, which served simultaneously as a stage set and to link the various elements spatially.
Four acts recounted the cycle of life. The protagonists of the story were the spring as the source of the mineral water and the Henniez brand, which were accompanied throughout the show by the guardian of the spring.
A total of 150 artists played their part in this impressive show. The specially developed choreographies of Eleven by the Bjart Ballet and a contemporary dance performance, the Henniez song composed specially for the occasion, and the finely tuned language of images on the all-encompassing projection, to mention but a few, produced an overall picture that deeply touched many of the guests from the minister of state to the employees.
