As part of the intensive preparations now underway for the 2012 Olympic Games, British Gymnastics is seeking to appoint a National Coach for Men’s Artistic Gymnastics to play a major role in maximising Britain’s success at the London Games.
The appointment will involve close co-operation with the Technical Director, National Coach (TOP) and the Men’s Technical Committee. The role will be to reach agreement with the personal coaches on challenging targets for gymnasts in the Performance programme and to assist in establishing the necessary training and competition programme to ensure their progression through the performance pathway. Monitoring and providing advice to personal coaches where applicable through regular club visits will be essential and therefore candidates must be willing to travel extensively across the UK. The National Coach will also be responsible for delivering a comprehensive national training programme and will be required to travel with teams to competitions at home and overseas.
In order to fulfil this role, the National Coach must have a thorough understanding of the performance requirements of elite sport and a proven medal producing track record at national or international level.
The successful candidate will have excellent technical skills and have considerable experience of working in a high performance environment.
He/she will have good communication and administration skills and be fully committed to the Performance plan agreed with the Men’s Technical Committee.
The post holder will be responsible to the Director (Performance & Technical), however day-to-day line management will be by the Technical Director.
Remuneration package: £27,719 - £31,772 per annum + company car
