BACKGROUND
Irish Gymnastics is the National Governing Body for Gymnastics in Ireland and is affiliated to the International Gymnastics Federation – FIG. The organisation is responsible for the national governance & development of 9 separate disciplines of gymnastics in Ireland…
General Gymnastics (GG), Women’s Artistic (WAG), Men’s Artistic (MAG), Trampolining (Tramp), Sports Acrobatics (S-ACRO), Sports Aerobics (S-AERO), Tumbling, Rhythmic (RHY) & Disabilities (DIS)
Each discipline is managed by its own ‘Technical Committee’.
In June 2006 Irish Gymnastics was awarded Funding under the Irish Sports Council’s (ISC) ‘Women in Sport’ Initiative to appoint a full time W-CDO to fast-track the development of our coaching syllabi for the two 100% female disciplines of our sport – WAG & RHY. Irish Gymnastics is seeking to appoint the W-CDO by the end of September 06 at the latest.
PLEASE NOTE: The successful candidate does not necessarily require an in-depth technical knowledge of gymnastics as a sport.
JOB DESCRIPTION
• To lead and direct the development of Irish Gymnastics’ coaching syllabi in the disciplines of Women’s Artistic & Rhythmic Gymnastics in line with the National Coaching & Training Centre (NCTC) standards.
ACCOUNTABILITY
• The post will be accountable to the President & the Board of Management (BOM) of Irish Gymnastics.
• The post will be line-managed by the Coaching Development Manager (CDO) & overseen by the National Development Officer (NDO).
SPECIFIC DUTIES
• Develop the coaching syllabi of the WAG & RHY disciplines to pilot and gain NCTC accreditation to ‘LEVEL 2’ – building on existing template developed through ‘Intro’ level courses.
• Assist in the development of Irish Gymnastics’ LTAD Pathway in conjunction with the CDO.
• Time permitting – begin work on development of ‘LEVEL 3’ syllabi in both disciplines.
• Have budget responsibility to deliver the education and training elements of the programme.
• Attend related meetings with IG BOM, ISC, NCTC, discipline Technical Committees and any other bodies related to the job.
CONTRACT
• The post is a 1 year contract with possibility of continuation.

PRELIMINARY TERMS & CONDITIONS* (*Subject to negotiation & final agreement)
SALARY
• €24,000 - €30,000 depending on qualification & experience.
LEAVE
• 20 days per annum (1.66 days per month) in addition to statuary holiday’s pro-rata.
PENSION
• Irish Gymnastics does not operate an employer’s pension scheme. The post holder should make suitable personal pension arrangements. Our PRSA providers are Bank of Ireland, Walkinstown, Dublin 12.
Duration
The post is a one-year contract with a probationary period of four months.
