| Description |
The Lawn Tennis Association’s new National Tennis Centre in Roehampton, southwest London, provides the state-of-the-art facilities that talented players need if they are to develop their performance and compete successfully at elite level. A centre of excellence in applied sports science and great coaching, it is also the administrative nerve centre for British tennis. This showcase facility has been purpose built to help get British tennis onto a winning path. Its extensive landscaped grounds incorporate six indoor acrylic and six outdoor acrylic hard courts, four grass courts and six clay courts, four with Northern European clay surfaces and two with French-Court® synthetic clay.
Preparing and maintaining the acrylic and clay courts will be your prime responsibility, with the focus on producing safe, world class playing surfaces. Grass court maintenance is outsourced, but general grounds maintenance for the entire NTC estate will be in your court, including the effective management of machinery and materials and regular checks on buildings, plant and equipment.
The LTA is looking to appoint a self-motivated, ‘hands-on’ groundsperson with a proven track record. You will ideally have clay court experience, supported by appropriate sports turf maintenance, turf science, sports ground management or horticultural qualifications and preferably IOG membership.
A thorough understanding of H&S; legislation and safe working practices, plus training in manual handling and risk assessment are essential. A valid driving licence would be useful but is not essential.
