BADMINTON England is looking to recruit a part-time (20 hours per week) Development Officer to work across the county of Essex.
The officer will be responsible for the co-ordination of all aspects of badminton development in the county, in line with the BADMINTON England 100 Point Plan, and the County Badminton Development plan.
The officer will encourage and initiate projects aimed at creating sustainable participation in badminton, including a focus on 16+, the PESSCL (Physical Education, School Sport and Club Links) strategy, and Long Term Athlete Development. The promotion of club accreditation, the development of school and junior badminton clubs and the co-ordination of an effective coach education system will also form a key part of this post. The officer will support all affiliated badminton clubs to retain and recruit members and also work to increase the number of volunteers in the county.
A Grade 2 salary (starting range pro rata £16,000) is offered on a 12 month fixed-term contract.

Interviews are expected to be held week commencing 29th October 2007 at a venue to be confirmed. .
The post holder will be expected to have a good working knowledge of sports development with experience of developing, implementing and monitoring sports development plans. Effective communication and organisation skills, together with an enthusiasm for working with the local badminton community are essential.
