Volunteer Centre Lewisham is the volunteer development agency for the London Borough of Lewisham. As such we are accredited to Volunteering England and work to deliver on 6 core functions: Development, Brokerage, Promotion, Enabling Participation, Information training and research and Commenting & Campaigning. In order to achieve these functions we work with organisations and groups wishing to include volunteers in their work, individuals wanting to offer their time as volunteers and strategically locally and within London to ensure that volunteering is recognised in planning.
Here at VCL we support over 2500 local people each year into volunteering, offering information, training, and mentoring according to the needs of the individual.
We know that there are many people volunteering within sports in Lewisham who simply do not realise that they are volunteers and organisations who welcome the support but have no volunteering infrastructure. This new position seeks to address these issues and raise the profile of volunteering in sport.
