UNIT: Sponsorship & Event Promotion

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To assist with and contribute to the planning, strategy and development of the commercial programme for the UEFA European Football Championship (EURO); UEFA European Women's Championship (Women’s EURO), UEFA European Under-21 Championship and UEFA European Futsal Championship, and to conclude sponsorship agreements and contribute to the development and implementation of an event promotion plan for all events in line with the agreed strategy and budget.
MAIN ACTIVITIES:
• Contributes to the planning and development of the commercial sponsorship programmes for all national team events sold by the Commercial Division as above, (EURO, Women's EURO, European Under-21 Championship and European Futsal Championship).
• Concludes sponsorship agreements for all national team events at fee levels as agreed in the strategic plan.
• Contributes to the planning, creation and implementation of the event promotion programmes for all the above national team events, to achieve the set objectives and within the agreed budget.
• Briefs and manages external agencies to deliver services as agreed and within budget.
• Manages other members of the team within the unit to deliver the programmes within the set parameters.
• Provides input for various projects or strategies under the responsibility of the unit for existing projects as required from time to time.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manages the sponsorship sales process for specific events as directed.
• Manages the event promotion plan for specific events as directed.
DECISION-MAKING POWERS:
• Agreed decision-making authority to a certain level for all projects, in line with budgets and UEFA regulations.
EDUCATION:
• Business/marketing degree or higher education
WORK EXPERIENCE:
• At least five years’ sports sponsorship sales experience, gained either in a sports or marketing agency environment or experience gained client side in a marketing, advertising or sponsorship-related function
BUSINESS KNOW-HOW & IT-SKILLS:
• Good knowledge of common business IT tools
• A good knowledge of football and the football world
PERSONAL QUALITIES
• Flexible and capable of self-starting projects under minimum supervision and seeing them through
• Inquisitive mind who will follow through all projects assigned to them with diligence, creativity and attention to detail
• Team player who can work as part of a close-knit team
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Ability to manage other members of the team and external agencies
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
• English - fluent (oral and written)
• French - good knowledge is a strong advantage
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Knowledge of and interest in football and the sports marketing business
• Willing to travel as necessary
• Position located in Nyon, Switzerland from start to end of 2010, then in Warsaw, Poland or Kiev, Ukraine from the end of 2010 to the end of UEFA EURO 2012. |
