Can you help make cricket inclusive for women and girls?
The ECB are seeking applications from individuals from either a sports development or project management background to become a Women's Regional Cricket Development Manager in the Midlands ECB Region.
The role will support County Cricket Boards throughout the region to develop women’s and girl’s cricket, making an impact in the quality and sustainability of the game.
The post will involve extensive strategic planning and management of regional plans that will develop and improve women's and girl’s cricket.
The work will involve;
Supporting County Cricket Boards to increase the number of clubs and participants
Supporting County Cricket Boards to improve the sustainability and quality of the current cricket clubs involved in women and girl’s cricket
Increase exit routes for girl’s from schools to clubs through the Cricket Foundations’ Chance to shine programme
Raising the awareness of women and girl’s cricket through an intense media campaign
Improving capital investment into clubs that have a women's or girl’s section
The role will require the successful candidate to have exceptional interpersonal, communication, time and people management skills.
It is expected the successful candidate will be based within the ECB region where they are working – currently there is an office in Northampton.

Creating opportunities – supporting County Cricket Boards (CCB) in developing opportunities and robust pathways for women's and girl’s cricket
Influencing people – raising the awareness of women's cricket within England and Wales, addressing current perceptions and changing cultures that will allow females to participate more
Continually Improving – By sharing good practice and continually monitoring and evaluating the work we do
Creating a legacy – to ensure women and girl’s are given the opportunity to participate and cricket becomes a natural option
Principle responsibilities
Working through a Regional Leadership Team to support CCB’s and to evaluate strategic plans and to agree the contents of annual action plans in each of the designated ECB Regions
Working with and through CCB’s to influence and support the delivery of the above plans for women's and girls cricket, with particular emphasis on:
Ensuring the governance of women and girl’s cricket is supported and aligned to all CCB activity and is transparent, effective and equitable
Ensuring all counties have appropriately aligned pathways that develop women and girl’s cricket
Increasing the quality of service CCB’s provide to clubs through their focus club and Clubmark accreditation programmes Providing support to existing clubs that have either a women's or girl’s section
Providing support to clubs who have the potential to develop women or girl’s section
Working through the Cricket Foundation’s, Chance to Shine programme, provide increased access to cricket and more exit routes (school – club transferral)
3. To support the National Development Lead for Women's Cricket in the development and delivery of annual and long term strategic plans for women's cricket with particular emphasis on:
Strategic planning for women and girls cricket
Annual delivery plans linked to regional strategic plans
Annual marketing and promotional plans in conjunction with Head of England Women's Cricket
4. Develop an Annual Regional Strategic Plan for women's and girls cricket to include:
Full alignment with other Cricket departments (Facilities & funding, Coach Educations, Chance to shine etc...)
Collating statistical information on the volume of activity within women's and girls cricket and ensuring this is updated quarterly
5. To support and deliver a network for professionals and volunteers involved in women's and girl’s cricket that will support:
The dissemination of good practice within women's and girl’s cricket
The alignment and consistency of messages / activity through each region / nationally
A sounding board for the development of women's cricket – to ensure better quality activity and programmes
6. To attend regular National WRCDM meetings to improve quality and check consistency
7. To line manage any contracted, Cricket Foundation, Chance to shine England Coaching Ambassadors within the region, in order to enhance their outcomes in identified priority areas
Nature and Scope of the Role
Key Targets for 2009 – 2013 within this role will be to
Expand the current number of women's and girls clubs (WGC) in England and Wales (quantity)
Ensure WGC are connected to Focus clubs and are working towards Clubmark accreditation (quality)
Work through the Chance to shine scheme to increase exit routes and build sustainability in clubs
Improve current 16+ retention rates for women's cricket
Work with CCB’s to mature their governance of WGC (equity, involvement, funding, resource)
Develop and implement an intense media and promotional campaign for WGC, using the international successes and events as a catalyst for activity
Improve and prioritise capital investment into clubs with a women's or girl’s section
Knowledge and Experience
Essential:
Experience of Strategy Planning
Experience of implementing and monitoring strategic plans
Sports development or project management experience at a strategic level
Experience of interpreting data and acting on this information
Line management experience
Self starter with good organisational and time management skills
Effective problem solving skills
Commitment to a continual professional development
Influencing skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A full driving license
Desirable:
Knowledge of women's cricket in England and Wales
Experience in budget control and financial management
Good computer literacy including MS Office and performance analysis software
Closing date for receipt of applications is Friday 18th September 2009.
Interview date is Thursday 1st October 2009.
Please note due to the nature of the post, the successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced CRB check prior to taking up the position.
