Description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Develop a clear communications strategy for UEFA and implement it successfully. Lead the Communications division effectively and make it a highly respected asset within UEFA and the whole football family. Maintain close relations with major sports journalists and/or directors of media (written press, TV, radio, web) in Europe.

MAIN ACTIVITIES:
• Develops and implements overall communications strategy for UEFA (incl. EURO 2012™ and the UEFA website)
• Streamlines and strengthens the communications activities of UEFA
• Supervises all UEFA-related publishing activities
• Supports Public Relation initiatives
• Leads the Communications division and makes it a highly respected asset of UEFA
• Establishes and maintains positive relations with key UEFA stakeholders both inside and outside the football family
• Represents UEFA and acts as a media spokesperson in consultation with UEFA’s top management

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Successful implementation and running of the communications strategy
• Leading division
• Cost control

EDUCATION:
• University degree in relevant field
• Further education in communications area

WORK EXPERIENCE:
• Experience as a head of communications in a relevant international organisation (5-7 years) and background in Public Relations
• Leadership experience (5-7 years)
• Experience in the football industry, excellent media contacts and understanding of the sports media environment

BUSINESS KNOW-HOW & IT SKILLS:
• Recognised communications expert (classical and new media)
• Football knowledge
• Efficient use of all common IT tools

COMPETENCIES & CHARACTERISTICS:
• Strategic and conceptual thinker
• Strong leadership skills and ability to help staff members develop
• Outstanding communication skills
• Networker with ability to team up with all stakeholders inside and outside UEFA
• Hard working and fully committed, able to work under pressure and to short media deadlines

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
• English = fluent
• French = fluent
• German = fluent
• Any other European language, such as Italian, Spanish or Portuguese, would be a plus.
