Description

Purpose of the job

The HB operations manager has overall responsibility for all venue-related broadcast operations at the Ukrainian EURO 2012 venues. In this role he/she oversees UEFA’s host broadcast operations and also oversees and protects the interests of the unilateral broadcast partners. The HB operations manager supervises the venue-based management team and is responsible for the organisation of the venue-based multilateral and unilateral television operations.

Prior to the tournament, the HB operations manager conducts a handover of three of the four Ukrainian venues to the respective event-time HB operations managers and then concentrates on the fourth Ukrainian venue during the tournament.

The ideal candidate should have good host broadcast and production experience and should understand the concept of TV broadcasting and venue management. He/she should be culturally sensitive, a team leader and able to manage a multi-national team in a foreign environment.

This position will be based in Kiev after an inital 1 month training period in Nyon.

Main activities

• Organises and implements the venue-based multilateral television operations, including unilateral services offered at the Ukrainian venues.

• Acts as the principal contact with UEFA and liaises with the EURO Division to ensure smooth UMET and unilateral broadcast partner operations at each Ukrainian venue.

• Liaises with the broadcast information office (BIO), in conjunction with the booking department, to ensure that all booked services are delivered to the satisfaction of the unilateral broadcast partners.


Pre-Tournament main responsibilities

• In the tournament preparation phase, has overall responsibility for all venue-related broadcast coordination and operations at the Ukrainian venues.

• Manages, allocates and coordinates the venue-based multilateral television operations, including unilateral services offered at the Ukrainian venues.

• Close coordination and cooperation with the EURO Division team in .

• Coordinates all UMET activities at the Ukrainian venues, and is the line of communication to senior management in Nyon.

• From approximately three months prior to the tournament, reports regularly to the IBC operations headquarters on broadcast activities at the venue, including any irregularities or incidents that may occur. From shortly before the tournament, compiles and delivers a daily venue report for the IBC operations HQ.


In-Tournament main responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for all venue-related broadcast operations at a specific venue.

• Organises and implements the venue-based multilateral television operations, including unilateral services offered at his/her venue.

• Manages and supervises the venue-based management teams.

• Coordinates all UMET activities at the venue, and is the line of communication to the IBC.

• In association with the technical and logistics managers, coordinates and oversees the installation of all equipment and facilities from UMET service providers.

• Ensures that all facilities and services booked by unilateral broadcast partners are in place and delivered, as advised by the senior broadcast liaison officer.


Education

• University degree or equivalent preferred


Work Experience

• At least four years’ venue operations experience, incl. significant participation in a major sporting event such as UEFA EURO, FIFA World Cup, Olympics, etc...


Business know-how and IT Skills

• Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel


Language skills

• English: fluent oral and written
