Glasgow?s Commonwealth Games bid 240-page document is printed, and The Herald reports the whole 600-page package will be submitted to the Commonwealth Games Federation in London on May 9 when Glasgow and its competitor Abuja each make a 15-minute presentation.

According to the newspaper once the documents are submitted no material changes can be added at the final presentation in Sri Lanka on November 9 when the vote will be taken and announced that day.

The Commonwealth Games Council for Scotland (CGCS) and its bidding partners, the city and Scottish Executive, have visited all but two of the 70 other counties who will vote in November. Derek Casey, director of Glasgow?s 2014 Commonwealth Games bid, said that they believe nothing has been left to chance. ?Between us, we have travelled to every voting member except the Falklands and St. Helena. They indicated that they would be happy to wait until the presentation?.

Louise Martin, chair of the CGCS, and multiple Commonwealth weightlifting medallist Tom Yule, will make Glasgow?s presentation.

Anyone expected to face the media in support of Glasgow?s 2014 bid will receive media coaching. A shadow evaluation commission will be created. Presenters and the city?s ambassadors will be coached by a leading media consultancy and there will be rehearsals for when the city itself goes under scrutiny before the vote in Sri Lanka.

Dick Palmer, technical director for London?s successful 2012 Summer Olympic Games bid, is giving Glasgow representatives a sample of what they can expect when the Commonwealth Games Federation sends its evaluation commission to the city to evaluate its bid. He said, ?we will walk round the course which they will follow to try to anticipate the issues. We will replicate everything to try to avoid people being taken by surprise?.

The 2014 Commonwealth Games Evaluation Commission (CGF), headed by John Tierney, Commonwealth Games Federation regional vice president for Oceania from the Cook Islands, will visit Abuja from June 4-7 and Glasgow June 10-13. The team will inspect the sites proposed for the Games and hold meetings on all aspects and themes of the candidature.

Following the visits the commission will produce a report based on their technical evaluation to help CGF voting members understand the strengths and weaknesses of each bid.
