Marks & Spencer has been selected by The FA to be Official Tailor to the England football team.

The three-year agreement, which runs through to the end of the FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa, sees the return of a British brand to the role of suit supplier to the national team.

For the first time, the Official Tailor deal has been extended beyond the men?s senior team to include all other representative sides competing in major international tournaments, for example the M&S; suits will be worn by the men?s under-21 side contesting this summer?s UEFA Under-21 Championships in Holland and the England women?s team competing in this September?s FIFA Women?s World Cup in China.

The British connection goes even further, as the suits ? which form the main element of the deal ? have been designed by leading tailor Timothy Everest who works with M&S; on its Autograph range. He has designed a separate, made to measure suit for the England men?s senior team, starting with a special suit to be worn by the squad for the first England game at the new Wembley Stadium.

Everest has also designed a range of accessories for the players including a shirt, tie, cufflinks and belt. The look is completed with shoes by design duo Jeffery-West. These accessories, along with a replica version of the suit, will be available in M&S; stores nationwide from May 24th.

?We are thrilled to have concluded an agreement with one of this country?s most successful retailers and iconic brand names which, like football, has genuinely broad appeal,? says Jonathan Hill, The FA?s Group Commercial Director. ?The involvement of Timothy Everest is a huge fillip, as this time around The FA and the players were keen to conclude an agreement with a British brand and designer.?

Julian Kilmartin, Director of Menswear at Marks & Spencer comments: ?We are delighted to be supporting the England team in this way. M&S; has a strong reputation for quality affordable tailoring and we?re really pleased that Timothy, who we have worked so successfully, is getting so involved with the design.?

Timothy Everest adds ?As a pioneer of modern British Tailoring I am pleased to be dressing our national team which will be an exciting and stylish few years.?

The players who will wear the suits are equally enthused, as England skipper John Terry comments: ?We?ve been involved in the process of appointing Marks & Spencer as the Official Tailor and are extremely pleased with the outcome, as well as the look and feel of the suits we will be wearing.
