2012 ODA Head Says No Meddling

John Armitt, the newly appointed chairman of the London 2012 Olympic Delivery Authority, warned politicians Thursday not to meddle with the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
He said that the building of the Olympic Village and venues could be jeopardized if politicians continued to “second guess” its decisions, reports the Guardian.
Jack Lemley, Armitt’s predecessor, resigned last year blaming political feuding and interference by several organizations involved in the London 2012 Games.
Armitt said, “we should not be surprised politicians are interested in what is going on…but we have to ensure they are in a position where they trust and leave us to get on with it”.
He added, “it is very important to create an atmosphere of confidence and trust in our stakeholders so they do not feel the need to second guess and review what we are going”. He said the project had a “drop dead” date for completion and it was vital people understood critical decisions could not be reversed three months down the line.
