FA International Broadcast Tender

Fresh from an FA Cup Final that attracted 12.9 million viewers in the UK and an estimated 500 million globally, The FA has announced that the tender process for its international broadcast rights will commence in June.
“Our first stage tender document will be available for broadcasters, agencies and specialist media operations, including mobile and IPTV, from June and we would urge all interested parties to register their interest now,” said The FA’s Group Commercial Director, Jonathan Hill, after Chelsea defeated Manchester United in Saturday’s first ever Final at the new Wembley Stadium.
“The incredible interest in the game reminds us of the importance The FA Cup still holds worldwide across all areas of the globe and, coupled with all England internationals returning to the national stadium, we feel we have a fantastically compelling and unique product to take to market.
The FA has recently announced a new domestic broadcast deal starting from season 2008/09 with ITV and Setanta, worth £425m over four years.
The tender for international rights will also cover the 2008/09 to 2011/12 period inclusively.
