Sri Lanka Olympic Committee Official Okays Abuja 2014 Facilities

Commander Hithanadura Udayasena Silva, Secretary General of the Sri Lanka National Olympic Committee, has given his approval of the proposed facilities for a possible Abuja 2014 Commonwealth Games after inspecting the venues.
Silva said “I am not under any obligation but I am saying this because it is the truth”.
At a press conference Saturday Silva said, “I can say that you are almost ready with regards to your outdoor stadium, because it is the venue for both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies”. The Abuja National Stadium has a 60,000-seat capacity.
He said that his background as the director of his country’s national stadia put him in a good position to assess the standard of the stadium.
He added, “I am impressed by your present facilities and the plans to put others in place for the games”.
