Support From Oceanic Bank Boosts Abuja 2014

Abuja’s bid to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games received a major financial boost when one of Nigeria’s leading financial institutions, Oceanic Bank, announced its support for the bid by contributing N20 million.
Patrick Ukah, Managing Director of Gazelle Consults Limited, the official marketer of Abuja 2014, announced the donation in Lagos and said the bank decided to make a bold statement by contributing its quota for the country’s bid to bring the games to the African continent for the first time, reports This Day.
Ukah said, “we as the marketers and indeed members of the bid committee led by General Yakubu Gowon are very pleased with the response of corporate Nigeria to the Abuja bid. The Oceanic support is another indication that Nigerians really want the Commonwealth Games to come to Africa for the first time”.
