Saudi Arabian Prince Nawaf Faisal Fahd Abdulaziz, a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), who is visiting the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs said Monday that Chicago is his top choice to host the 2016 Summer Games.

He said through a translator, “Chicago will have a great chance. Chicago is going to be able to organize a great Olympics”.

Meanwhile Chicago got some advice about its bid from Jiang Xiaoyu, executive vice president of the Beijing Olympic Committee. He said, “as a friend, I’d like to give some personal advice”.

According to MSNBC Jiang’s first message to Chicago is that it needs to send a signal that it truly wants the Games. “I think sincerity makes a difference, and as long as Chicago shows the sincerity of hosting the Olympic Games it really will move the judges and move the other people. It is sincerity that will make the difference”.

Chicago 2016 head Patrick Ryan said he agrees and thinks that the message is definitely being conveyed that Chicagoans want the Games. He said, “every place I go…people will say, ‘we’ve gotta get the Olympics. We're gonna win’. I mean, people are really into it”.

Ryan added, “the International Olympic Committee selected cities, not countries”, insisting that’s the case Chicago must press…that this Olympic experience would be new and unique. “Yes, they’ve been in the southeast in Atlanta. Yes, they’ve been in the Pacific Coat in Los Angeles. Yes, they’ve been in the Rocky Mountains in Salt Lake City. But they’ve never been in the heartland”.

Although Beijing has created an Olympic park in a relatively remote section of the city, MSNBC reports that Chicago’s plan maximizes centralized venues close to downtown.

Jiang said Chicago should go for whatever it thinks is best saying, “I wish Chicago good luck!”
