Vienna's new security headquarters in the third level of the Ernst-Happel-Stadion will be put into operation for the first time for Wednesday's friendly between Austria and the Czech Republic.
First EURO Test
The modern glass structure is integrated into the stand and will provide a perfect view of the stadium for security experts from the police, fire brigade, ambulance service, the stadium's management and its security team. The newly installed video surveillance system is capable of scanning the entire stadium area. Wednesday's match will be the first test of the new centre ahead of UEFA EURO 2008™.
Cooperation
"After the first tests in the Hanappi-Stadion, Wednesday's operation will be the first security test to take place at the site of the European championship," said Werner Hiller, the security expert of the Vienna organising committee. The match will also provide an opportunity to practice cooperation between the team of operational controllers in the stadium, Vienna's police force and the national police headquarters.
