Donald Trump's 1 billion-pound ($2 billion) golf resort on the northeast Scottish coast won backing from the local municipality, the Press and Journal reported.
In recommending that the project should be given the green light, officials dismissed the concerns of environmental groups, the Aberdeen-based newspaper said. Planners found that the economic benefits outweighed the potential damage to the area, it said, citing a report compiled for municipal leaders.
Trump, 61, wants to build a complex with two golf courses, a 450-bedrooom hotel, 950 holiday homes, a conference center and 36 guest villas, according to plans submitted last November, the Press and Journal reported.
