Prague’s City Hall will have its answers to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) acceptance questionnaire for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games bid ready by the end of October, Tomas Petera director of the Praha Olympijska Company told journalists Tuesday.

The questionnaire will be prepared for the first reading which will allow it to be submitted to the government for comments after which its final wording will be approved, he said. Prague must send the completed questionnaire to the IOC by January 14 next year.

Petera said, “some answers are ready and the work on the others is close to completion. The questionnaire will be ready by the end of October”.

The document is divided into eighths – motivation, conception and reference, political support, finances, sports facilities, accommodation, transport, security and general condition, public opinion and experience.

Prague said the dates for the Games should Prague win the bid would be from July 29 to August 14, 2016. The venue of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies would probably be built in Prague-Letnany.

He said Prague’s Olympic bid would be a contribution to the country regarding the completion of its infrastructure, the improvement of its lifestyle, the promotion of Prague and the entire county in the world, and enhancing the importance of sport.

Petera added, “we want to prove that it is better to organize smaller Games using the existing sports infrastructure. We also want the Games in Prague to be ‘green’”.

By the end of the year the Praha Olympijska Company will have the results of the latest public opinion poll. Petera said, “it is in our interest that the poll be objective”. He said the IOC could conduct its own poll.

He added, “that was one of the things that led to the rejection of Salzburg’s candidacy”.

Salzburg lost its bid to Sochi for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.
