Real Madrid fans can join players Raul, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Fabio Cannavaro on the soccer team's private jet -- for 70,000 euros ($97,000) a season.
The world's most successful club plans to sell as many as 70 seats on its Boeing Co. MD-80 airliner. The price of the season-long package includes match tickets and hotel rooms, Andrea Comilla, a spokeswoman for Viajes Iberia SA, the travel agency organizing the package, said in an interview today.
The first game will be Madrid's Champions League match in Rome against Lazio on Oct. 2, Comilla said.
Spanish sports newspaper Marca said the journalists who had occupied the seats will have to make their way to games on another plane from now on.
Real Madrid had sales of 343 million euros for the year ending June 30, making it soccer's top-earning team for the third straight year.
The Spanish champion's press office said it didn't have any information about the travel package.
The twin-engine MD-88 can carry as many as 172 passengers up to 2,504 nautical miles (6,635 kilometers) at a cruising speed of 504 miles per hour. McDonnell Douglas designed the plane before being bought by Boeing in 1997.
Viajes Iberia is based in Palma de Mallorca and has 550 travel agencies across Spain.
