British Swimming appoints Scott as consultant

British Swimming has appointed 51-year-old Australian Michael Scott as a high-performance consultant following the departure of compatriot Bill Sweetenham as performance director, it said on Thursday.
Scott was most recently employed as chief executive at the world championships in Melbourne last March.
In a statement on their Web site (www.britishswimming.org) , British Swimming's chief executive David Sparkes said:
"We are delighted to have Michael on board at this time. He has an excellent track record in swimming and sport and whilst our search for a permanent National Performance Director continues, Michael will ensure continuity."
Scott is expected to take up his position on October 1.
Sweetenham, known for his uncompromising and often abrasive approach to the job, stepped down unexpectedly as head coach on September 3. He also coached Australia at four Olympics.
