IEC in unique badminton web venture

Sports media agency, IEC in Sports will launch www.WOB.tv – the first ever dedicated Web TV service created for badminton fans globally.
WOB.tv will feature both archive and live streaming of major international badminton tournaments, from around the globe.
World of Badminton – the IEC produced bi-weekly magazine show will also be made available, containing feature stories and interviews with the top players from Finland to China, Indonesia to Qatar.
The launch of WOB.tv is an extension of IEC in Sports’ long standing commitment to the international badminton community and cooperation with over fifteen national badminton associations, the regional badminton confederations and the Badminton World Federation.
“By launching WOB.tv, IEC in Sports makes a further commitment to take the sport into the 160 countries, where badminton is not regularly scheduled on television. Also to nations where the hunger to follow players and there best matches is immensely strong. This IEC investment into digital media also offers a possible template for other sports. “ said Jonas Persson, CEO of IEC in Sports.
Yonex Japan Open will get the opening honours as the first live web cast on the 15th of September in a limited number of territories.
WOB.tv will look to air a significant number of BWF Super Series and BWF Grand Prix tournaments on this unique Web TV portal.
WOB.tv will also feature a news service which will keep the viewers up to date with all the latest news on players, results, world rankings, Olympic qualification and the state of the sport at the professional level.
WOB.tv will offer video streaming using state-of-the-art servers to ensure viewers enjoy a high quality badminton experience. IEC, together with its’ technical partner will be ensure to geo-block territories so as not to conflict with rights granted to other media stakeholders.
About IEC and Badminton
IEC commenced promoting the television broadcast of badminton in 1994.
IEC works with the major badminton associations of China, Japan, Sweden, Denmark, Malaysia, Switzerland, Korea, Germany, Finland, Luxembourg, Holland, Indonesia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Macau S.A.R, France and Thailand.
At the regional level, IEC handles broadcast rights for the Asian Badminton Championships and the European Badminton Championships.
IEC has been appointed by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) as the exclusive television coordinators for the newly launched Super Series. In additional IEC also represents the European and North American broadcast media rights for all major BWF events, including the World Championships, Thomas & Uber Cups and Sudirman Cup.
