Spanish Business Sector Supports Madrid’s Bid For 2016 Games

Alberto Ruiz-Gallardon, Mayor of Madrid, presented the Madrid 16 Olympic bid to more than 500 representatives of the top Spanish companies who have committed their support for the 2016 Summer bid.
Representatives of the companies have signed an agreement with Madrid 16 that has been described by the Mayor as a “strategic alliance with the city in which sport becomes the best possible investment”.
He added, “you have acquired the commitment of promoting our Applicant City condition, of spreading our project worldwide, and also of convincing the business sector that it is an intelligent decision to become a Madrid 16 sponsor”.
Jaime Lissavetzky, Secretary of State for Sport, said during his speech at the presentation that Madrid 16 is “a project of great importance for Madrid and Spain” and stressed the “total commitment of the Spanish government with the project”.
Alberto Lopez Viejo, Councillor for Sport of the Community of Madrid, who also attended the presentation announced that the Community of Madrid’s decision to “improve the infrastructures so Madrid will strengthen its position as a reference sport city”.
