Agreements signed during the annual International Economic Forum in Sochi Sept. 20-23 will secure eight billion U.S dollars in private investments towards the financing of Olympic projects for the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games.
A plenary session on “Olympic investments opportunities” moderated by Dmitry Chernyshenko, CEO of Sochi 2014, highlighted areas such as Olympic and tourist legacy, change to the city’s image, the appearance of and knowledge about the international arena, and the increase in construction and investment opportunities brought about by the Olympic status of the city.
TOROC CEO Cesare Vaciago and Mark Lewis, marketing director of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games Organising Committee in Salt Lake City, shared their economic experiences with the shareholders and International Forum delegates.
Chernyshenko said, “it was very important that such high profile guests found an opportunity to share their experiences with those considering investing into the city or region. Knowing how it worked for the cities that successfully hosted Olympic and Paralympic Games will help the investors evaluate profits and risks and realistically consider their abilities”.
