China 'Definitely' Has Ability to Host World Cup, Blatter Says

China "definitely'' has the ability to bid for and host the men's soccer World Cup, according to Joseph Blatter, president of the sport's world governing body FIFA.
China will have the necessary technical and sporting infrastructure after staging the women's soccer World Cup and the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, Blatter told reporters in the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou yesterday.
"There's no doubt that China is able to bid and able to organize a FIFA World Cup, definitely,'' Blatter said.
"The year, I don't know. We have not yet decided on the rotational system, this will be done the end of October.''
FIFA's system of rotating the host of the men's soccer World Cup around continents may end by the 2014 tournament. England, Australia, Belgium, the Netherlands and China are reported to be potential bidders for the World Cup in 2018.
China is currently staging the women's soccer World Cup after the 2003 edition was moved to the U.S. because of concern about severe acute respiratory syndrome, or SARS.
