Hussain criticises new ECB set-up

Nasser Hussain has criticised the England and Wales Cricket board for appointing Mike Gatting and Hugh Morris in the wake of the Schofield report.
In new roles created by the ECB, Gatting will oversee the first-class and recreational game while Morris is managing director of the England team.
Former England captain Hussain wrote in his Daily Mail column: "It smacks of jobs for the boys, I am disappointed.
"The ECB do not appear to have searched beyond their own backyard."
The Schofield review group - which included Hussain - recommended 19 steps to improve the state of English cricket following the Ashes whitewash and failure in the World Cup.
But Hussain believes the ECB has shown a lack of imagination in appointing Gatting and Morris.
"We were told the ECB were going to search the world for the best people to fill the new senior jobs advocated by the report," he continued.
"But this smacks of the ECB being desperate not to rock the boat nor bring in anyone who might question how they do things.
"They just want to retain the status quo."
Hussain feels the ECB should have brought in an outside appointment, pointing to the effect Lord MacLaurin had as chairman and Duncan Fletcher's impact as coach.
He suggested former England batsman Mark Ramprakash as a better choice to fill Gatting's role.
"He is someone who knows all about the domestic and international games and the difficulty in bridging the gap between one and the other," Hussain added.
"He is also young enough to be in touch with how the game is evolving. He should have been sounded out."
