Benfica SAD Says Revenue Rose 31% to EU83 Million Last Season

Sport Lisboa e Benfica Futebol SAD said revenue for the 2006-07 season increased 31 percent at the operating unit of the two-time European soccer champion.
Revenue increased to 83.3 million euros ($117 million), Lisbon-based Benfica said in a regulatory filing without providing a year-earlier figure. Benfica SAD said it posted a profit for the first time, reporting earnings of 15.3 million euros as staff costs dropped 16 percent.
Guinness World Records ranks Benfica as the world's biggest soccer club by active members, which total more than 167,000, Benfica spokesman Ricardo Maia said in March.
