A collaboration of sporting professionals seized an opportunity in 2002 to create a business like no other.
Tom Wenham, Andrea Kemp and Matthew Green had already carved out successful careers in both public and private sector sport and recognised a gap in the market for a full service consultancy to specialise in event management and training and development.
Armed with reams of industry contacts, a ‘make it happen’ attitude and a partnership approach, Sportworks set out to harness the potential of sport, from grass roots level, to the management of world-class sporting events.
Working alongside national governing bodies and major global organisations such as UK Sport, British Fencing, the FA, Sport England and FITA (The International Archery Association), Sportworks swiftly established itself as a major player in the sector.
The consultancy’s training and development arm also started to turn heads in the sporting arena as a market leader, working with the Youth Sport Trust, Skills Active and numerous County Sports Partnerships and School Sport Partnerships.
Sportworks’ agenda for growth, backed by business acumen and sound market understanding, is a real sector trailblazer – so much so that the consultancy has recently expanded through acquisition and has appointed Gary Hargraves to join
its board of directors as a shareholder.
