Fixed Term Contract to March 2011
The England and Wales Cricket Board wish to invite applications from interested parties for the position of National “V” Cricket Manager.
1 Purpose of the Role:
To recruit, train and line manage a team of 4 ‘V’ Cricket Regional Managers who will ensure that clubs are best placed in the future to deliver high levels of satisfaction to cricketers through having enough key volunteers. To produce in conjunction with others a National Volunteers strategy for Clubs. This strategy will involve the deployment of 16- 25 year olds in to key volunteer roles in cricket clubs using the very successful NatWest CricketForce Programme as the vehicle. Additionally, to introduce a national/regional volunteer management/support process.

3 Principal Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a regional ‘V’ Cricket team within the Club Programmes Unit to achieve successful volunteering outcomes in cricket clubs.
Develop and deliver key volunteering strategies for Clubs
• Monitor, review and expand existing best practise
• Identify, recruit and deploy potential new volunteers and existing volunteers (mostly, 16 – 25 year olds)
• Establish a model that will work across a range of clubs
• Design a club volunteer Strategy that is easy to understand and adopt and will produce the desired outcomes for clubs
Develop, Market and Promote Club Volunteer Programmes (‘Be Involved’)
• NatWest CricketForce (NWCF)
• NatWest OSCAs (NWOSCAs)
• Introduction to Cricket Course
• Achievement of Volunteer Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
Research, provide and ensure attendance on appropriate training courses (or other learning opportunities) for all new volunteers to include:
• Coaching
• Groundsmanship
• Scoring
• Umpiring
• Generic Courses
• Seminars/workshops
Assist with the Management and development of a Club Roadshow programme for NWCF and NWOSCAs
• Development of programme materials
• Education, training and mentoring of deliverers
• Monitoring of programme delivery
Produce a range of appropriately branded publicity materials for use on websites, press, other media, clubs, communities and a range of staff and other agencies
Administration:
• Compile reports as requested
• Provide appropriate ongoing monitoring of volunteer numbers and trends in to clubs
• Work within agreed budgets maximising value for money
• Undertake such duties as may be required from time to time that are consistent with responsibilities of the post and the needs of the ECB
4 Working Relationships:
Regular liaison and communication with ECB Club Programmes Manager
Team Leadership of ‘V’ Cricket Regional Managers
Regular communication with ECB Club Programmes Officer and any additional internal staff on a daily basis
Regular contact with County Boards, Regional and Cricket Development Managers, Regional Training Managers, other Regional/County Staff and all Key Volunteers and appropriate agencies
Close co-operation with other ECB Departments, in particular Communications, Commercial, Finance and IT/Play-Cricket
Interaction with club personnel, particularly personnel from Community Cricket Clubs
External networks including as a minimum: Sports Development partners, Media, Volunteer Agencies, Community Groups and NatWest as appropriate
5 Knowledge and Experience:
• Good knowledge of recreational cricket important
• Strong organisational, influencing and administrative skills required
• Must have experience and understanding of a sports club/cricket club operation and be able to demonstrate this at interview
• Must have expertise or proven track record of recruitment, retention, development and recognition of (sports) volunteers at local, regional and/or national level
• Able to operate without significant support resources
• Good communication skills important
• Reasonable IT skills essential
