| Description |
An exciting opportunity exists for a committed team player to join the ECB`s Venue Partnerships team.
Cricket is experiencing exciting times and as a result many venues are staging an increasing number of Major Matches and seek to develop their facilities to world class standard. We therefore seek an enthusiastic, well organised operator to carry out a wide ranging role. Primary responsibilities will include providing venue executives with operational support, leading communication with ECB`s broadcast partners and playing a key part in delivering the governing bodies obligations at Major Matches in England & Wales.
The successful applicant may well have operational experience at a sports venue (although not necessarily cricket) and will be an excellent communicator with good attention to detail.
Purpose of the Job
To provide Venue Executives with the support needed for them to achieve their stadium redevelopment objectives, lead liaison on operational matters with ECB`s broadcasting partners and security stakeholders and play a key role in the assessment of Venues & ECB to performance against Staging Agreements obligations.
Key outputs
• To monitor compliance by Venues with the terms of the ECB Facilities Strategy ( TSF2), Crowd Management recommendations and all other applicable regulations and directives of ECB and ICC.
• Provide Venue Executives with appropriate support to assist them with execution of their Venue Capital Refurbishment and operational plans
• To ensure Broadcast Partner agreements are delivered in accordance with those agreements to a standard commensurate with cricket’s position as a major national and international spectator sport.
• To represent the ECB in meetings of Safety Officers, ACPO, government agencies or other bodies as deemed appropriate from time to time.
• To ensure that temporary facility provision such as but not limited to floodlights and replay screens are engaged at competitive rates to the quality standard required by ECB.
• Represent ECB as “Duty Match Manager” at designated Major Matches.
• Evaluate the performance of Venues and ECB to Staging Agreements at Major and where appropriate, domestic matches.
Principal Duties
Broadcasting
• Be responsible for primary liaison with Broadcasters and Radio Partners.
• Ensure agreements are properly serviced and carry out appropriate site visits and review meetings.
• In consultation with Cricket Operations and Broadcasters, agree the televised match schedule prior to the start of each season
Support for Venue Management
• To co-ordinate opportunities for NVQ training of stewards and advice re Disability Discrimination Act, Health and safety and other relevant legislation or regulation.
• To support venues in the provision of safety and security matters through the development of appropriate strategies and training.
• Prepare technical specifications for the facilities required by venues within the ECB Facilities Policy and provide Venue Executives with same.
Safety and Security
• To oversee the implementation of ICC Anti-Racism Regulations by international venues.
• Liaison and co-operate with the ICC Regional Security Manager to ensure delivery of all ICC security requirements at each venue.
• Monitor the implementation of safety and security measures at ECB events including but not limited to safety and security recommendations within the Cricket Disorder Review Group, SIA legislation, Disability Discrimination Act and other relevant legislation introduced from time to time.
• To liaise with Government Departments, the SIA and The Association of Chief Police Officers.
• Support touring teams and the ECB Cricket Operations Dept in all matters relating to safety and security.
Temporary Facilities
• To be responsible for the central hiring of floodlights, replay screens and other facilities required to ensure that venues are provided with plans and all necessary documentation for safety approval of such temporary facilities a minimum of 12 weeks prior to each event save in the case of matches arranged with less than 12 weeks notice .
Match Evaluations
• Attend Major Match days to assess the performance of Venues and ECB against their Staging Agreement obligations
• Compile an objective report in the form sanctioned by the Major Match Group in a timely manner following the completion of each match and deliver to the Head of Venue Partnerships.
• Prepare an end of season summary of Major Match Evaluation reports for the Head of Venue Partnerships and the Major Match Group.
• At matches, promptly report breaches of the Staging Agreement which require immediate attention to the Venue Manager and Head of Venue Partnerships.
• To be fully appraised o the detail within Venue’s Staging Agreements, the ECB Facilities Policy (TSF2) and the ECB Commercial Manual in addition to all relevant ICC and ECB Regulations and Directives relating to the staging of Major Matches.
• Obtain feedback from ECB staff, Officials and stakeholders on duty at each match in order to prepare a balanced and comprehensive evaluation report.
• To support the Head of Venue Partnerships with feedback to Venue Executives on their team`s performance.
Duty Match Management
• Support the Head of Venue Partnerships to ensure that the delivery of ECB’s Major Match Programme is of a standard required by ECB and its stakeholders.
• Ensure that post match presentations are of a quality expected by ECB and that all personnel involved are briefed concerning their role and to ensure that all items and backdrop materials are in place in good time for presentation ceremonies.
• To be the primary contact during an event for the Host Venue Manager, Broadcasters , Team Management , Umpires , Match Referee, ICC Regional Security Manager and suppliers.
General
• Manage the agreed financial budget agreed with the ECB Finance Dept
• Any other duties required due to the nature of the role
Skills and Experience
Key skills and experience required to meet the demands of the post are :
• Excellent people skills to communicate effectively with ECB departments, stakeholders and Venue Executives
• Ability to produce detailed reports and assessments of activities at venues
• Exhibit a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to be transparent and objective in assessments of Venues
• Committed and comfortable in demanding/busy environment requiring work through a high proportion of anti-social hours ( evenings , public holidays and weekends )
• Strong persuasion and relationship/team building skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience of operational management within a venue which has staged Major Events.
• Highly motivated
• An appetite to learn and raise standards.
Additional information
• Flexibility of working hours is required and the ability to meet tight deadlines is essential
• Developing an excellent working relationship between Venue Managers and partners is essential.
