The England and Wales Cricket Board wish to invite applications from interested parties for the position of ECB ACO Support Officer.


1 Purpose of the Role:

To support a membership system for the ECB ACO and provide operational and administrative support to Education Manager of the Association.

2 Facts and Figures:


The ECB ACO will offer membership to umpires and scorers throughout England and Wales and has members in countries within the ICC Europe and in other countries throughout the world.

3 Principal Responsibilities:


o To manage the membership application and renewals process.
o To respond to correspondence from Officials and support the maintenance and quality of the joint ECB/ECBACO database.
o To deliver membership benefits including merchandise, in conjunction with ECB Coaches Association where appropriate.
o To liaise with County Boards regarding ECB ACO
o To occasionally liaise with local and regional bodies established as part of the ECB ACO structure and with affiliated organisations as appropriate.
o To answer enquiries from individual members and from others interested in ECB ACO.
o To liaise closely with the Membership Services Officer and Education Manager and be prepared to undertake any other duties related to the work of these functions as required.


4 Nature and Scope of Job:
A Job Context:
ECB has a vision of becoming and remaining the most successful and respected cricket nation in the world. This aspiration is supported by a mission of developing the game in England and Wales from the playground to the Test arena.

The organisation has identified four objectives between 2006 and 2009 as follows:
o Proving effective leadership and governance
o Building a vibrant domestic game
o Enthusing participation and interest particularly amongst young people
o Developing and maintaining successful England Teams

The aim of ECB ACO is to provide support for the activities, interests and continued development of all umpires and scorers with qualifications recognised by ECB, and to ensure the recruitment, training, examination and progression of new and current umpires and scorers at all levels of the game. The ECB ACO Support Officer plays a key role in the delivery of support to members and to other members of the ECB ACO .


B Working Relationships:
o Reports to the Head of Operations – Non First Class Cricket
o Interaction with the ECB Umpires and Match Operations Manager, Education Manager and Membership Services Officer
o Close co-operation with other ECB Departments
o Close co-operation with the ECB Coaches Association
o Regular contact with County Boards, affiliated organisations, Leagues and volunteers
o Interaction with ECB ACO members

C Knowledge and Experience:


Essential
o Good knowledge of non first class cricket and the role of Officials
o Strong organisational and administrative skills
o Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
o Good IT skills, including ability to use data bases, spreadsheets, word processing and the Internet
o Good time management skills and telephone manner
Desirable
o Be a practicing Official
o A clean driving licence
