Officials' Education Manager
based at Lord's

The England and Wales Cricket Board wish to invite applications from interested parties for the position of Official’s Education Manager.
1. PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To provide management and leadership in the development and execution of officials’ training programmes throughout England and Wales.
2. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership, management and administration of all Officials Education Programmes
Direct management and administration of delivery and resources
Development of effective strategies to build a widespread workforce of field-based trainers, tutors, internal verifiers and assessors to support the programme
The motivation of the tutor workforce and their continuous professional development
Maintenance of the partnerships between the Officials education programme and qualification accreditation bodies used
Optimise opportunities to bid for funding
Raising the standard of and development of umpiring in England and Wales at both professional and recreational levels
To assist in the preparation of papers in support of ECB ACO Board and to lead the Education Committee
To implement effective and rigourous reviewing procedures for content and delivery methods of all officials’ education in England and Wales
Representation of officials at Sports Officials UK (SOUK)
Work with Youth Sport Trust on creation of a Young Officials project
Deal with correspondence from members of the public on appropriate issues
3. NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB:
(a) Job context
ECB has a vision of becoming and remaining the most successful and respected cricket nation in the world. This aspiration is supported by a mission of developing the game in England and Wales from the playground to the Test arena.

The Officials Education Manager plays a critical role in building a vibrant domestic game by:
(a) ensuring that the education programmes supporting umpiring and scoring in England and Wales are of the highest possible standard
(b) ensuring that the education programmes are support with robust and effective structures to be able to lead in this field
(c) providing opportunities for all those involved in the structure at any level are able to enjoy their involvement and enthuse about the roles they perform

4. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE :
Essential
· A clear understanding of current best practice in delivery and support of education courses
· A good knowledge and understanding of current recreational cricket structures
· Evidence of strong negotiation skills
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Demonstrable leadership and organisational skills
· Good time management skills
· Experience of budget control and financial management
· Excellent computer literacy, including MS Office and database systems
· Commitment to a continual professional programme
Desirable
· Detailed knowledge of officiating in other sports
· Experience of playing a good standard of cricket
