Lancashire County Cricket Club was founded in 1864 and has been based at the historic and picturesque Old Trafford ground ever since.

The cricket club is one of the highest-profile and most successful counties in English cricket, and the ground has been hosting International matches since 1884. The England team will visit the ground again in 2009 as they face off against their oldest rivals, Australia, in two NatWest Twenty20 International matches.

Alongside cricket, Old Trafford is becoming one of the most desirable multi-purpose venues in the country. The on-site Suites provide the location for a thriving conference and events facility within the Club which caters for social and business gatherings of varying sizes.

Description

Lancashire County Cricket Club is committed to provide the highest standards of excellence in first team cricket, and to support the cricket management team we are looking to recruit a First Team Coach, to form an important part of the overall cricket structure.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to bring their skills and expertise to the Club, to take specific responsibility for the running of the 1st Team.

Reporting to the Director of Cricket, this new role will be responsible for the physical fitness, discipline, coaching, tactical instruction, development programmes and standard of play for Lancashire’s 1st Team.

Key duties will include:-

• To have a key input into the selection of the playing eleven from the selected squad, with the support of the 1st Team Captain.
• Provide input to the Director of Cricket on recruitment, player development and general cricket strategies, as appropriate.
• Organising practice sessions for the 1st Team, and on occasion, for the 2nd Team and young non-contracted players, in conjunction with the Assistant Coach and Academy Director.

Candidates need to have a significant cricketing background, with an excellent knowledge and understanding of county cricket, and ideally an understanding of the structure and requirements of cricket in Lancashire.

With experience as a Head Coach or a leader of a high performance team, qualified to at least ECB Coaching Level 3 or international equivalent, you will have experience of strategic planning, implementing and monitoring development programmes for high performance cricketers. Demonstrating your excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of motivating both players and coaches.
