The Amateur Swimming Association is the English national governing body for swimming, diving, water polo, open water, and synchronised swimming.
It organises competition throughout England, establishes the laws of the sport and operates comprehensive certification and education programmes for teachers, coaches and officials as well as its renowned Learn To Swim Awards scheme.
The ASA supports 1,220 affiliated swimming clubs through a National/Regional/County structure.
The ASA aims to ensure everybody has an opportunity to learn to swim.

Contract: Consultancy Contract
Salary: £10,080 to cover 24 days per annum, plus expenses
Location: Home based, will involve travel within the UK and abroad
British Swimming is the National Governing Body for Swimming and its associated disciplines in Great Britain with its headquarters situated in the centre of Loughborough.
Applications are invited for the exciting new post of Medical Officer on a consultancy basis.
The main focus of this role is to work with the sport’s Chief Medical Officer to implement medical support strategies for World Class Programme athletes. The role will work within the Sports Science Sports Medicine Team with the key objective to deliver a world leading medical and health support service for British Swimming coaches, which positively impacts on swimmer performance in both daily training and national team environments.
This will assist British Swimming in their success for 2012 and also to ensure the legacy and talent pathway continues beyond 2012. These roles have been created to continue our passion for performance excellence and our strive for continuous professional development.
The successful Medical Officer will have a postgraduate qualification or equivalent in sports medicine and be able to show evidence of providing medical and healthcare support to athletes, with at least three years experience of GP/musculoskeletal work. The successful applicant must be able to work well within a team, which is coach driven. The role will require the ability to work all hours as required by the position, including periods of travel in this country and abroad with the national team. British Swimming would welcome applicants who have had previous involvement within swimming and develop successful working relationships with athletes, coaches and support staff.
