McLaren title sponsor Vodafone says it is looking forward to working with the all-English ‘dream team’ of Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton next year.
Button has signed an estimated £6m-a-year deal to partner the man he replaced as world champion at Vodafone McLaren Mercedes from next season.
Head of group sponsorship at Vodafone Maria Bellanca told Sports City: “We’re delighted to have the former and current world champions making up next year’s driver line-up and we look forward to the start of next season. The combination of the two will be great for the team and we wish them all the best for next year.”
Hamilton has already appeared in several adverts for Vodafone and the British-based company is sure to make the most of the marketing opportunities that come with having two such high-profile drivers in the team.
But Bellanca says the fact that they have won the last two world championships is more important than their nationality.
“Of course it will be very good for our British market but we’re a global company,” she added. “Jenson and Lewis are both very talented drivers and we think the new line-up will appeal to all of our operating companies around the world.”
