England’s World Cup bid team will today (November 26) hear pitches from the 15 cities hoping to host matches at the 2018 tournament.
The committee will narrow the list down to about 10 cities (and between 12 and 18 grounds) on December 16 before presenting the bid to Fifa in May next year.
London, Manchester, Liverpool and Sheffield will submit proposals containing more than one stadium, while Birmingham, Leeds, Derby, Hull, Newcastle-Gateshead, Nottingham, Leicester, Milton Keynes, Plymouth, Sunderland and Bristol will also present to the bid team at Wembley.
Portsmouth pulled out of the race this week after the City Council refused to provide the necessary financial guarantees.
Many of the grounds being put forward as potential venues have not yet been built, including new homes for the likes of Tottenham and Liverpool and the 2012 Olympic Stadium.
