Santander will sponsor Felipe Massa on his return to competitive racing this weekend.
The Spanish Bank will back Massa at the International Challenge of the Stars go-kart event in Brazil on Saturday and Sunday, and at the Granja Viana (also in Brazil) the following weekend.
Santander has signed up to become a Ferrari sponsor from next season and has decided to sponsor Massa personally for the two events. It is currently the fourth-biggest bank in Brazil.
Massa said: “I’m glad to get this support from Santander. Recently I met president Emilio Botin twice and he is absolutely excited about the potential of the Brazilian market. I’m sure we are setting up a strong partnership.”
The International Challenge of the Stars will be the first time Massa has driven competitively since he fractured his skull in an accident at the Hungarian Grand Prix in July.
The likes of Michael Schumacher, Giancarlo Fisichella and Rubens Barrichello will also take part in the charity event at the weekend.
