Kenya planning Twenty20 tournament – report
 27/11/2009

Cricket Kenya is hatching plans to launch a Twenty20 competition involving teams from neighbouring Uganda, according to reports.

Cricinfo quotes a source as saying that negotiations between the boards are “at an advanced stage” and that high-profile sponsors are being sought to fund the event.

The four-team competition would feature two sides from Kenya – an A and a B XI – and two from Uganda, considered one of the up-and-coming cricketing countries in the region.

The tournament would act as preparation for the ICC World Twenty20 qualifiers in March and, if successful, the concept could be expanded to include 50-over competitions, claims the cricket website.
