New Formula One team Manor GP will be rebranded as Virgin Racing for next season.
Manor chief John Booth and Virgin boss Richard Branson are due to announce a significant sponsorship deal this week after Manor was registered as Virgin Racing in the FIA entry list for 2010.
The deal is likely to see Virgin, which backed world champions Brawn in its first season, take a stake in the new team.
Virgin Racing will join Campos Meta 1, Lotus Racing F1 and US F1 as the new teams on the grid next year.
There is still one place available on the grid after Toyota pulled out of the sport and that is widely expected to go to Peter Sauber, who bought back his eponymous team from BMW last week.
The FIA says it is looking into Toyota’s decision to quit despite signing the Concorde Agreement in the summer that tied it to F1 for the next three years. It is possible the sport’s governing body could impose sanctions on the Japanese manufacturer.
