Former Jockey Club director of communications John Maxse is joining sports communications consultancy Pitch as a director.
Maxse, who spent 16 years at the Jockey Club and will remain a trustee of its charity Racing Welfare, will take up his new role in January.
Ho joined the Jockey Club in 1993 and became head of public relations in 1997 before being appointed public relations director in 2001. He was named director of communications and special projects in 2005.
Pitch, which was founded in 2002, has several racing clients, including Goodwood Racecourse, the Hennessy Gold Cup and Racing UK.
The agency’s chief executive Henry Chappell said: “John is an experienced and highly respected communications expert. He has given great service to the
horse racing industry during his time at the Jockey Club, whether promoting the benefits of the sport to the media, fending off Panorama investigations, or co-ordinating public affairs campaigns for the industry as whole.
“We shall be utilising his extensive experience across a wide range of our clients both within and beyond the world of racing. John will be a great asset for Pitch as we expand our offering into both the corporate and political sectors.”
