European football has been rocked by a second betting scandal in a matter of weeks after it emerged that two Spanish second division clubs and seven players are to be investigated.
The Spanish Football Federation will conduct an inquiry after a tip-off from Uefa about betting on matches.
The clubs concerned are Rayo Vallecano and Las Palmas, which named the seven players on its website, though none are in the first-team squad.
Last month, Uefa named five clubs – KF Tirana and KS Vllaznia of Albania, FC Dinaburg of Latvia, NK IB Ljubljana of Slovenia and Budapest Honved of Hungary –it wanted to investigate following allegations of match-fixing.
The five were involved in seven games, one Champions League qualifier and six Europa League qualifiers, between July 16 and August 6, 2009.
German prosecutors are probing a total of about 200 games played around Europe as part of the same investigation.
