More than £11bn will be invested in London’s infrastructure, transport system and attractions in the run up to the 2012 Olympics, Visit London predicts.
The organisation’s business tourism director Tracy Halliwell told a conference in Barcelona that the £11bn private and public investment would attract more visitors to the city.
Visit London estimates that more than 13,000 new hotel rooms will be opened by the time the Games starts in two-and-a-half years’ time.
Halliwell said: “Some of these developments have been spurred on by the 2012 Olympic Games and others were happening anyway.”
