Singapore Airlines has signed up as the official airline of next year’s inaugural Youth Olympic Games.
As part of the agreement, the company will provide air tickets, carriage of airfreight and publicity of the Games – which take place in Singapore next August – through its media channels, including its in-flight magazines and entertainment system.
Chief executive of the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (SYOGOC) Goh Kee Nguan said: “Singapore Airlines is our national and a world-class carrier with a modern passenger fleet. We can therefore be assured that key officials travelling for the inaugural YOG will have a pleasant trip on board with the excellent services provided by SIA [Singapore Airlines]. The partnership will also see joint efforts by SYOGOC and SIA to fly the Singapore flag higher and further.”
Singapore Airlines executive vice-president of marketing and the regions Huang Cheng Eng added: “The dedication of these young talents to sporting excellence will surely inspire youth athletes around the world to greater heights. With this sponsorship, Singapore Airlines hopes to contribute to the success of the first Youth Olympic Games.”
